This report assesses the macroeconomic forecasts accompanying the draft 2023 budget for Asturias, which presents estimates of GDP growth, in volume terms, and employment for the period 2022-2023, different from those used in the General State Budget (PGE).
According to the Asturias scenario, GDP could grow by 3.8% in 2022. This figure is more conservative than AIReF’s estimate of 4.9%, although within the range of the forecasts of other agencies and private institutions. For 2023, it estimates GDP growth in volume terms of 0.7%, lower than AIReF’s figure. However, it is within the range of analysts’ consensus estimates and is lower than that contemplated in the macroeconomic table accompanying the General State Budget for 2023. AIReF considers the forecasts to be feasible and, as such, endorses them.
