The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) endorses the forecasts accompanying the 2024 draft budgets of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands, which include estimates of GDP in volume and current terms, the implicit GDP deflator and employment for the period 2023-2026.
The Canary Islands estimates GDP growth in volume terms of 2% in 2024. This forecast coincides with AIReF’s central estimate and is contained in the range of forecasts made by other agencies for the region -although some do not yet reflect recent revisions to the National Accounts-. The nominal growth expected by the Canary Islands for 2024 is higher than that forecast by AIReF (6.6% forecast by the region and 5.2% by AIReF), given the higher growth estimated for the deflator.
