The Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) endorses and considers feasible the forecasts for 2023 presented by the Basque Country. The institution notes that these forecasts are made in a context of uncertainty that makes their assessment difficult at a national level, but even more so at a territorial level. Although the rate of change in GDP forecast by the Basque Country for 2023 is higher than that estimated by AIReF, it is within the range of estimates of the consensus of analysts and is similar to that envisaged in the macroeconomic table accompanying the General State Budget.
According to the Law creating AIReF, the macroeconomic forecasts included in the draft budgets of all the Public Administrations must have a report from the institution indicating whether they have been endorsed.
