The Government of Aragon adopted an agreement at its meeting of March 11, 2020, whereby it requested AIReF to carry out a study of public spending in Aragon (Spending Review) in certain areas of special interest for the autonomous community, at the proposal of the Minister of Finance and Public Administration, and after deliberation. The action plan was approved on November 25, 2020.
This is the study on pharmaceutical expenditure and analyzes three items of public pharmaceutical expenditure in Aragon: hospital pharmaceutical expenditure, expenditure on medicines dispensed through prescriptions in pharmacies and expenditure on medicines dispensed in social-health centers. The items evaluated accounted for a total of 585 million euros in 2020, a quarter of total healthcare spending and 1.6% of the community’s GDP.
